BT to postpone Digital Voice

BT has decided to ‘pause’ the implementation of  the new Digital Voice system, the use of the internet to transmit phone calls currently done be landline. The problem about Digital Voice is that it won’t work if there’s a power cut – not unknown in our village. BT assumed that if a power cut happened, everyone would use their mobile phone. This is impossible in a village without mobile reception. The Neighbourhood Planning Team lobbied the district councillor and MP last year. BT is now trying to sort out the mess.
